What it can look like at home or school: knowing the answer but struggling to say it; taking things very literally; finding group conversations hard to follow; friendships that take a lot of effort to keep.
Emotional & Self-Regulation
Managing emotions, impulse control, handling frustration, motivation, confidence, mood, worries, and patterns of behavior.
What it can look like at home or school: little changes that feel very big; giving up quickly when something is hard; big reactions that seem to come from nowhere; trying so hard that everything feels exhausting.
Sensory & Motor Development
Sensory needs and sensitivities, fine and gross motor skills, handwriting, and coordination.
What it can look like at home or school: noise, light, or textures that are hard to bear; handwriting that hurts or takes forever; avoiding sports or games that need coordination; needing to move in order to think.
Development & Daily Life
Developmental milestones, relevant health history, previous evaluations and services, family context, and everyday experiences.
Why it matters: a child’s story doesn’t start at the screening. What has already been tried, what home and school look like, and what everyday life feels like all shape what support will fit.
